Yeosu City Closes ‘1st Yeosu International Webfest' with Great Success

Yeosu City announced on the 9th that the '1st Yeosu International Webfest', which was held from the 4th to the 7th at the Yeulmaru GS Caltex area in Woongcheon, successfully concluded.   The Webfest, featuring 1,306 works from 76 countries across North America, Europe, and Asia, culminated in an awards ceremony on the 6th, where 53 awards were given in 3 categories, after intense competition.   Yeosu City's self-produced web drama ‘Hamel’ received a special award. Other top honors included Korea's ‘Daedaejangson’ in the web content category, Korea's ‘Penguin's City’ in the short-form category, and Spain's ‘Howl’ in the music video category.   Before the awards ceremony, Yeosu City signed MOUs with renowned webfest committees, including the World Webfest(U.S.), British Web Awards(U.K.), Rio Webfest Awards(Brazil), and Azyl(Slovakia). These agreements aim to strengthen overseas networks for future mutual cooperation.   Annie Qing Han, a web content creator from the U.K., said, "I was amazed by the well-executed event held in a small city like Yeosu and especially by the beautiful scenery here. It was an honor to have my work nominated among so many submissions, and I will cherish the memories for a long time."   Mayor Jung Ki-myeong said, "The trophies given to the awardees were designed to reflect Yeosu’s unique features, taking inspiration from the Hamel Lighthouse and the city’s symbolic seagulls. “Creating Excellence in the Asian Design”, Disclosing 2023 DFA Awards Winners

The winners of the ‘2023 DFA Awards’, which inspire the world and create design excellence in Asia, have been announced.   The ‘DFA Awards 2023’, hosted by the Hong Kong Design Center, is Asia’s representative design awards ceremony, and since its inception in 2003, it has been an event to award those who have showcased excellent designs from the unique perspectives and philosophies of Asia.   This year, the 2023 DFA was divided into five categories—including the three major categories: ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’, ‘Design Leadership Award’, ‘World’s Outstanding Chinese Designer’, ‘Design for Asia Awards’, and ‘Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award.   Firstly, Japan’s representative graphic designer ‘Kenya HARA’ was selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award. Kenya Hara, a graduate of Musashino Art University, was in charge of the Nagano Winter Olympics and the Expo 2005 Opening and Closing Ceremony Project. He was selected as the recipient of this award in honor of his inspiration for transforming everyday life into something special, discovering wisdom in simplicity, and promoting understanding and sensuous peace.   Additionally, the Design Leadership Award was presented to Victor LO Chung-wing from Hong Kong. As Chairman and CEO of Gold Peak Technology Group, he has led the establishment of Hong Kong's representative cultural and arts institutions such as Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Corporation, Hong Kong Design Center, Hotel Icon, Poly U Design School, PMQ, and M+. He is a key figure leading the revitalization in the fields of design, culture, and commerce.   The World’s Outstanding Chinese Designer Award was awarded to Qiong Er JIANG from Shanghai, China, in recognition of his contribution to the global design landscape while being a future-oriented leader who connects tradition and innovation.   At the Design for Asia Awards, excellent designs in six categories were honored with awards. This year, 216 awards were awarded, including 10 grand awards, 19 gold awards, 40 silver awards, 55 bronze awards, and 92 excellence awards.   Various design works have also claimed the honor of awards in Korea. 2023 Global Clean Environment Awards Held in Seoul

Action for Clean Environment (ACE), a global non-profit organization with a mission to facilitate global environmental activism, successfully organized 2023 Global Clean Environment Awards Ceremony. This was the fourth year for the awards ceremony and a ceremony was held in 22F Opal Room, Plaza Hotel Seoul, at 11AM on July 19, 2023. The awards ceremony was sponsored by Panacell Biotech and Beautyline Medical Group.     The Awards Selection Committee chose five winners in Healthcare, Business, Entertainment & Media, and Global Youth Leader. Five winners are The Plug Drink (USA) in Healthcare Sector, Reco (Korea) in Business Sector, Jongsoo Kim in Entertainment & Media Sector, and lastly Young-Wook Suh Sohn and Jay Young Chang in Global Youth Leader Sector.     During the ceremony, a global youth speaker, Eric Hyun Sim (9th, Eaglebrook School) spoke about how awards winners contributed to the global society and environmental issues. Henry Huang (CEO of The Alchemy Group) delivered a congratulatory address by video clip for the ceremony.     The Committee stated that five winners made an outstanding contribution with a positive impact on the improvement of environment and better livelihood of human beings.     “It was a proud moment to be with five outstanding winners who demonstrate their passion for solving global environmental problems.
